Descendants of Jasper Howley born 1667 at Upton, son of Jasper Howley of the One House, Rainow

The descendants (reference Ches06) of Jasper Howley born 1667 at Upton, son of Jasper Howley of the One House, Rainow His parents James and Rebecca (nee Booth) inherited the One house estate in 1765 on the death of his grandfather John Howley/Hooley. Almost all the members of this tree lived at Macclesfield; no male heirs have been found living after 1734.

Latest developments - May 2008

More information has been found relating to the bankrupties of Jasper Hulley born 1697 who was living in London in 1727 as a warehouseman, and John Hooley/Hulley borm 1700, who was a maltster in Macclesfield in 1771. Thomas Hooley, an ex-Mayor of Macclesfield born 1703, was mentioned in an 1882 newsaper report when the brass chandelier, which he had donated to St Michael's church Macclesfield in his mayoralty and weighing 5cwts, crashed to the floor in the middle of a service. Fortunately no-one was injured!
