Derbys03 - Descendants of Henry Hooley who married Molly Shirt at Glossop in 1792

This tree is the first one in Derbyshire to have Hooley as the surname. It starts with Henry Hooley who, with Molly his wife had only one child, Joshua. Joshua and Hannah had 11 children, 2 of whom - Frederick 1826 and Hannah 1832 were born in Manchester - the remainder being born in either in Rostron or Bugsworth (later Buxworth) in Derbyshire.

Joshua's sons and some of his grandsons followed him into stone masonry but one of his grandsons - George William 1846 - became a toll collector on the Ashton canal at Droylsden.

John Hulley born 1840 was the only person who was not born a Hooley but died as a Hooley in 1851.
