1. William Hulley

Note: no birth registration exists for this person. It is assumed that he was born circa 1732-1741 and
may have been a child of any of the following parents:

William and Abigail Hulley of Mossley weaver - married 27 Oct 1730/31- children born
in 1732 (Ann), 1734 (James).
James Hulley of Mossley clothier - wife and marriage date unknown - children born in
1732 (a child), Robert was buried in 1735, 1737 (son).
The last named are the most likely parents because of the same occupations of father
and son. William may have been the child born in 1737, making him 22 when he
married.

1759 26 Mar - married at St Michael's church Ashton under Lyne: William Hulley, Alice Platt both of
this parish.

1762 17 Jan - daughter Ann baptised at St Michael's church Ashton under Lyne: Ann, d. of William
Hully of Scout, by Alice.

1764 25 Mar - son James baptised at St George's church Mossley: James Son of William Hully
Clothier by Alice Sad.

1767 15 Feb - daughter Alice baptised at St Michael's church Ashton under Lyne: Alice, d. of William
Hully of Hazlehurst, by Alice.

1773 21 Mar - daughter Mary baptised at St Michael's church Ashton under Lyne: Mary, d. of Wm.
Hully of Luzley, clothier, by Alice.

1774 30 Sep - wife buried at St Michael's church Ashton under Lyne: Alice, w. of William Hulley of
workhouse.

1775 7 Apr - married at St Chad's church Saddleworth: William Hulley (Butterhouse) sojourner,
clothier, & Sarah Lawton (Dobcross) widow. (Sojouner - temporary resident)

1777 10 Aug - son John baptised at St Chad's church Saddleworth: Johhn s. of William Hulley &
Sarah his w. Butterhouse.

bef. 1779 - son John1 died - see baptismal entry for John2 dated 21 Feb 1779.

1779 21 Feb - son John2 baptised at St Chad's church Saddleworth: John s. of William Hulley &
Sarah his w. Peters.

Description: Long, two storey building divided into two or three cottages. Oldest part
dated PB MB 1663 (Peter & Mary Bradbury). Radcliffe records another datestone on
cottage door IAW 1724. Gable copings with corbels; arched windows eastern end.
Workroom on first floor. Rebult outbuilding has refixed datestone IAW 1737.
