Note: the above census entry shows that Francis and Jane had 4 children, 3 of which
were living in 1911. The 4th child has not yet been traced; it was probably born and
died between censuses.

2010 19 Nov - message from Louse Dyer:
I think I emailed you a few years ago about something missing in my branch of the
Hully family tree. I’m not sure how we left it...? I would really like to add my Nana to the
list of children of Francis Hully who married Jane Capstick. I’ve copied the extract below
to help….

My Nana – Ethel Hully – was the youngest daughter of Francis and Jane. Her older
sisters were Maggie, born in 1899, and Jane, born in 1900. Ethel was born in
December 1903 in Orton and died in August 2001 in Kendal. She married Walter
Brooks in December 1927 and had one son, Michael, born January 1938. Michael
married Joan Hill in Kendal and they had one daughter (me!) and one son, John.

I know that Ethel's father was very disappointed she wasn't a boy - he was keen to have
a son to continue the favoured family name of Moses! I was very fond of my Aunty
Maggie who died a few years before my Nana. She was disappointed throughout her
entire life that she wasn't christened "Margaret". I never knew Jane (or Jinnie) as she
was known. She died long before I was born. Nana used to tell us lots of stories about
Orton and all the family round the area. I do wish now I had listened more carefully and
written things down. She could remember clear as day things that happened when
she was a girl but as she got older, not what happened the day before.

If there is anything else you need please let me know. I would really like to have the
page correct so when my children become interested in their family history I can direct
them to your website to see how far one side of their family can be traced. It is really
amazing!
