Yorks10 - Descendants of George Holy or Hauley born at Sheffield in 1810

The surname of this family tree changed from Holy in 1841, then to Hauley by 1851, and finally settled at Hawley by 1861. Almost all the males - and many of the females - were employed in the cutlery trade. They lived initially in Sheffield at Norfolk Lane, Cadman Lane, Fitzwilliam Street, Regent Street and Broad Lane. After 1881 some of the family were found at Ecclesall Bierlow. Henry Hawley born 1842 married a Worksop girl and moved to Grantham, Lincs to start a family, and his younger brother Arthur lived at Nether Hallam by 1881 but returned to Sheffield by 1901.
